Egypt launched "Vision 2030" in 2016, aiming to achieve six strategic goals: improving the quality of life and living standards of Egyptian citizens, enhancing social justice and equity, building a cohesive and sustainable environment, developing a diversified, knowledge-based, and competitive economy, constructing advanced infrastructure, and establishing modern governance systems and partnerships. In the healthcare sector, the vision proposes comprehensively increasing investment in all medical fields to ensure universal access to affordable healthcare services. Additionally, it seeks to strengthen the capacity of national medical research centers and improve the healthcare system’s emergency preparedness.

At the forum, H.E. Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar stated that he has visited medical institutions worldwide, but the medical AI technologies, intelligent medical devices, and smart hospital construction showcased at Mindray’s headquarters, Guangming Base, and Shanghai Renji Hospital were highly forward-looking on a global scale, leaving a profound impression on him. He also conveyed the Egyptian President’s high expectations for his China trip, emphasizing that the Egyptian government will provide full support to partners committed to technological cooperation and localization.

“Both Egypt and China boast thousands of years of cultural heritage. We hope that the cooperative relationship we are building with Mindray will also stand the test of time, grow stronger with each passing year, and continue to deepen.

Egypt is endowed with a strong pool of medical talents, a dynamic young workforce, well-educated engineers and technical experts, as well as a geographically advantageous location. Moreover, Egypt’s Universal Health Insurance Scheme and healthcare system development are currently in a phase of continuous advancement and expansion—presenting an optimal opportunity for bilateral cooperation. We eagerly anticipate the future establishment of Mindray’s manufacturing facilities, Mindray Academy, and model hospitals equipped with Mindray’s full suite of digital and intelligent healthcare solutions in Egypt.”

Wu Hao, President of Mindray Medical, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He introduced Mindray’s cooperation history, advantages, and diversified medical practices in Egypt, and expressed anticipation for further deepening cooperation to help Egypt address healthcare challenges, improve medical efficiency, quality, standardization, and homogenization.

We hope that Mindray will evolve not merely as a device supplier, but as an indispensable long-term strategic partner in the development of Egypt’s healthcare industry.

Mindray has accumulated years of practical experience in Egypt and has deeply participated in the construction of the country’s healthcare capacity. Looking ahead, we aim to leverage Mindray’s "Device + IT + AI" digital and intelligent solutions, sustained localized development, and years of accumulated scientific research and training experience to assist Egypt in building an integrated, accessible, and high-quality universal healthcare system. In doing so, we will support the realization of "Vision 2030" and address the "impossible trinity of healthcare."

During the interactive discussion, Dr. Mohamed Fawzy, Advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, and H.E. Dr. Hisham Stait, Chairman of UPA, put forward specific suggestions for bilateral cooperation based on their respective professional fields. Dr. Mohamed Fawzy proposed expanding Mindray’s existing ultrasound training schools in Egypt into comprehensive training institutions for all medical professionals, covering both practical skills training and medical innovation research. He also suggested establishing a model hospital in Egypt equipped with Mindray’s integrated digital healthcare solutions, with Mindray participating in its construction to achieve device interconnection and data integration. H.E. Dr. Hisham Stait noted that globally, there are very few manufacturers like Mindray capable of providing hospital-wide integrated solutions, and he expressed hope for increased cooperation in integrated solutions and AI-driven products in the future.

Mindray established its branch in Cairo, Egypt, in 2010. After more than ten years of dedicated efforts, its products such as ultrasound systems and patient monitors have achieved top market shares in Egypt. The company has also built a highly localized team in Egypt, with local employees accounting for over 80%. Meanwhile, Mindray’s cooperative localized ultrasound manufacturing plant in Egypt is fully operational, boasting an annual production capacity of 2,500 units.

In addition, Mindray has promoted multi-center research, co-built scientific research laboratories, and supported medical talent training in Egypt. In 2014, Mindray established its first ultrasound training school at Cairo University. To date, it has set up 8 ultrasound schools across Egypt, having trained over 1,500 ultrasound physicians in the past 11 years.
